Rep Power: 36 | | | Another Medical Problem for WuSung Greetings:
Last night I was getting a sheet pan of lovely, lovely lamb out of large convection oven. As I turned with the burden of tastiness in my hands, I caught my forearm on the inside of the oven door. My skin actually burned so badly that it not only stuck to the door, but it felt COLD instead of hot. Point of heroism: I didnt drop the lamb!
Now, that being said, a massive blister rose damned near immediately. I left it be, put some salve on it. This AM, opon waking, the blister was obscenely large, I think it had a heartbeat. Well, friends...I cant very well walk around with a weird potato looking blister on my arm. I lanced it. Actually, technically, I just put the Eagle Claw death grip on it. It hurt like piss, and under the blister? A HUGE hole. I dont know how, but the burn must have went through a couple layers of epidermis...it is nasty. My question for the TCM peeps: anything I can do to pack it and/or keep it from getting infected? I pumped a bunch of Neosporin into it and bandaged it over. Anything I can do that is more natural, though?
-Wuuuuu that Burns!

Rep Power: 220 | | | Honestly, best bet is the ER, they can give you a burn cream that will help heal it, fight the infection and ease/stop the pain.
I had a pretty bad burn once and all the different things I did/tried, few worked as good as Western medicine for dealing with it. |

Rep Power: 36 | | | Im game, for sure. My arm is numb. It only hurts if I put my finger INTO the wound. Guess there's some nerve damage. Guess I know what arm I will be blocking with from now on!
I may swing by the ER after school. Till then, Neosporin, beer, and 2 doses of Ibuprofen will have to do. Thanks, bud.

Rep Power: 157 | | | With a big hole not yet infected... can wash with mild bleach or, if you're tough 80% bleach to prevent infection, or, if you're insane, kero does the job. I used to get good results with these on tropical ulcers. You can use honey or a sugar paste - hospitals sometimes use them on resistant bed sores.
The best for burns is aloe vera in addition to whatever the doctor gives you. It really does work.
BTW, I thought your missus was a yogini - rack of lamb? How come she's shifted the bad karma for eating meat off on you?

Rep Power: 61 | | | Ive used OTC and prescription burn creams in the past. To be honest, if the burn is really really serious, get good burn cream from your doctor and worry about the "natural stuff" after the initial stage of this predicament has passed.
Also, talk to an acupuncturist in your area about what they use on burns from direct moxibustion... |

I would've said, don't pop the blister 'cause it's there for a reason, but too late, so now infection prevention is paramount. That's a classic 2nd-degree burn there (burns below the first epidermal layer, causes a big blister). Off to the doctor with ye.
Once the doctor pronounces you out of danger, apply fresh aloe vera directly from the plant leaf (forget the lotions in the store) followed by vitamin E oil (my mom used to prick the gel capsules with a pin and squeeze the stuff onto sunburns & bad scrapes, but you can get a bottle of the stuff now), twice a day. This will finish up the healing process and lessen scarring.

That is what all the old school Chinese doctors use.

duhhhhhhhhhh never burst burn blisters
especially if its a big one
chances of infection have increased unbeleievabley
aloe as most people have said is good for skin repair and burns
lavender and tee tree oils are good anti bacterials
also covering with clean cling film after application of oils etc
for some reason 2nd degree burns heal better anaerobically

I am immune to your papal disdain...
However, the bursting was quite satisfying, I must say. Like peeling a scab, dont ya know? I bought some aloe gel at a natural food store in town. Last night, I swapped it out with alcohol and a Q-Tip, I really dug in there. Yowza! that burned. Then, I filled the hole up with the gel, wrapped it, and drank a bottle of wine. Good times. Now, today my hangover is so bad that the burn is only a background kind of pain. I have a doc's appt today, maybe he will give me some antibiotics to stave off any infection that my dumbass may have caused.
