Rep Power: 21 | | In the jow recipe it says you can add bees wax to make an ointment. If you to that will it still get stronger with age? Will it affet it in any other way?
Also does anybody know a good place to get the herbs I need online?
I found a place but its all in bulk and I don't need that much jow!
Or how about a good place to get the stuff in Atlanta? |

Rep Power: 0 | | | There are a couple of chinese herb shops on Buford HWY inside of the perimeter. Also there is a chinese herb shop on East Ponce de Leon close to the intersection of North Decatur Rd.
I went to one of the shops on Buford but the guy wouldn't make anything for me. He insist that I provide a recipe from my sifu saying that there are too many different reasons for the jow. The shop on East Ponce also has a shop on Wesley Chaple Rd not sure where but you can look them up in the phonebook and ask what days the doctor is in. |

If you dont need very much, why not just buy a quality pre-made jow: http://www.dragonslist.com/reviews/s...php?product=82
That way you wont have to trifle with buying the herbs, preparing it properly, letting it age, etc.
Buying herbs can be a bad thing if you cant identify the species properly. Americans are often times overcharged and scammed (read: intentionally given the wrong herbs). Buying premade and aged jow from someone who can identify the herbs before mixing them is a safer and more cost-effective bet on your part. |

Rep Power: 54 | | | totally agree with pd, in addition to the fact that the quality of herbs can vary greatly, so buying for the first time is always a risk, esp. if you are new to herbs.

Rep Power: 35 | | | Went into a chinese medicine practice day before yesterday, one of three in Ealing that i know of (its very popular around there, Ealing appears to also have a thing for health foods and organic stores. Its heaven for me) and asked if they happened to stock "Jow". It was met with a confused look and a "What?" "Jow... Dit Da Jow" "Why? What is it?" "Its a linement" "It's a what? What was its name?" "Dit.. Da.. Jow.." "What the HELL is that?" "Its a liquid, used a lot in martial arts, that is usually rubbed in, to aid with muscular sprains or for training (i made some reference to iron palm or something here, i dont exactly remember what i said)" "Well, the only thing we have similar is this thing WoodForce, its for muscular sprains and you rub it in, but i've never heard of Jow before" The tiny bottle of this woodforce stuff would have cost me twice the amount a bottle of Jow would online... Which is slightly irritating. Maybe she only spoke Mandarin and didnt understand Cantonese, though she sounded fairly ****ney to me.
I think i might take in a list of herbs written in Chinese (not sure whether mandarin or cantonese or what, but meh) to make my own, and see what she does. Or i might just use a different practice, whatever.
Just thought i'd relay that story, it MIGHT be interesting, i dont know. |

Rep Power: 100 | | I've tried taking a list into 'em, doesn't help. I have a TCM practitioner a few shops up from my shop and he hasn't got any idea what Dit Da Jow is. Hardly suprising I suppose. Is it like expecting every Englishman to know everything associated with Rugby or Cricket?
I've got some great PlumDragon Jow I imported from the States about a month ago, you can buy some with your Khukuri!!
What are you doing in Ealing Zip? I thought you were in the Channel Islands??? |

Rep Power: 35 | | Havent you noticed that on my little info bar it now says "Location: Just moved to london"? I moved here near the end of august. Now you know!
Ealing is where my college course is taking place, so thats what i'm doing up there. I actually LIVE down in southfields (just near wimbledon, a really short walk to the tennis courts, which is good because my GFs family are tennis freaks :P). I actually PREFER Ealing and almost wish i lived somewhere around there, but its still nice to have a family member as a landlady. And there is a TCM practice around HERE too, just not as many as Ealing, and no cool organic stores.
Whats plumdragon Jow like? Is it just formulated for Iron Palm training? Or is it safe to use it for any type of strike conditioning? Also, sprains/bruises etc? I am accident prone, and my last bottle of jow helped out heaps when i crashed my motorbike. So its always useful to know how it fares for each usage.
If you could give me a quote for khukuri and jow, i would greatly appreciate it!
Edit: forgot to add this! I dont necesarily expect them to know EXACTLY what jow is, but surely if they know chinese they should at least understand the meaning of it. I'm sure i wouldnt understand exactly what many cricket terms are, but i might understand the general meaning of the words, :P |

I make an iront palm medicine as well as a general purpose jow; FF has both in his store. The iron palm is warm and works surprisingly well for iron training or more serious bodily damage; it is of very high potency. Also, many people find excellent results with my iron palm jow for arthritis, tendonitis, and other bone and joint problems, because of its bone healing and strengthening properties.
The general purpose jow is great for limb knocking, bruising, and to a lesser degree, bone problems. Its comprised of herbs which balance it more on the cool side and make it better for more general use.
The list of specific medicinal effects is on the webpage accessible through the review link posted above.
I believe FF lists his prices on his website. |

Rep Power: 35 | | lol, cant say i have. But if the average englishman used french, maybe there would be a better chance :P
As for the training, i will be training with the local YMAA on mondays and probably wednesdays, thursdays i'll be at the JDIATCC (John ding international academy of tai chi chuan) either at the ten AM session, or the 6 PM session. And there is a chance i might be doing Capoeira on Tuesdays. I have room for lessons therefore on Thursdays the rest of the day (give me half an hour to an hour's travelling time) Fridays, but thats not so ideal. And of course weekends if thats a possibity. I dont want to overexert myself too much though :P so they have to be an awesome teacher to be worth adding another class :P.

I think the general purpose would probably be best for me, otherwise i'd end up getting tempted to try iron palm training without a teacher. Which i know is a bad idea, but i do stupid things if i have the oppurtunity.
FF has only one jow listed, and its just labelled "Dit Da Jow"
