Rep Power: 127 | | | Keeping your distance Against a long weapon, would it be safer to stay outside or get inside?
Same thing for a bladed weapon, either long or short (sword, knife).
Why is it safer?
How do you accomplish this?

easier to control
catch him at the two ends of the curve - not at it's power pitch. before/and of it's arc. If straight in, angle in.

Rep Power: 64 | | | Staying ( far ) outside can definitely keep your opponent from getting to you, but it works in reverse as well and you won't be able to do anything to them.
Now the haft of a polearm isn't going to present much of a problem at real close range since it's very difficult to maneuver and you can use just about any part of your body to trap it. After all, it's a stick and relies primarily on impact and momentum ( something that takes room to generate in swinging it ) to inflict damage. Doing that against a longer sword could present trouble since I don't recommend trying to grab the business end of one of those or leaving alongside your ribs. True, they may not be able to hack and slash well, but slices and draw-cuts are still very possible in short range. Not only that but the shorter blades take even less room to do so.
This is also coming from a Hung Gar practitioner and fighting past 18 from my opponent is bordering on long range.

Rep Power: 100 | | | short weapons like a knife you almost have to go inside. Longer ones outside and to the outside angle.

The other day we worked on some of these. Getting in and controlling was key against the knife. Not releasing the weapon hand, while sliding back up and down the arm to alternate striking hand was also key.
We also worked on where you need to control the weapon hand, and how. That was very interesting.
Although that was all done on a straight blade, not curved. I'm guessing that would eliminate those applications.

Rep Power: 54 | | | some times we use marking pens or plastic knives with a type of grease pencil stuff on them (lipstick?) to demonstrate how hard it is to avoid getting cut, nearly impossible id say, so my focus has been to decide when and where i will get cut. ill also add that while bleeding, your blood can be used as a countermeasure, ie when defending, flick your blood into the eyes of your attacker.

Rep Power: 100 | | | A curved blade does change the dynamics and a curved blade is better to counter someone trying to stop it.

I'd say that is a good focus. | “ | Originally

Ah... countering with a curved blade. The dynamics of the curve allows for more options. Although I'm far from discovering these things........

Rep Power: 4 | | | Khukri are very interesting weapons for sure. Know of any good places to get one?
Ok, back to the thread. Getting to the inside of any edged weapon is not the best idea. It's better to lock it up or pass it by. I have no experience with longer weapons.

Rep Power: 100 | | | One of the reasons you may have to go inside with a short weapon like a knife is because that's where it is. Most people will go to a close stance with the blade inside close to the body. Some may extend it and thats better to go after but even those that extend it because they don't know how to use it, will often pull back before attacking with it.

I don't believe that "inside" is being described as you might think, but rather distance/ range. If that's what you meant, then my apologies. | “ | Originally

Stolen? Awe hell no.

Ok, yeah, you have to get in close to do anything. I meant literally inside their guard, dragon-like.
P.S. Congrats on Mod of the Month.
