Rep Power: 100 | | | another student stabbed..I love this class! Today we had our second stabbing accident in class. Again the student was lucky and the injury is not serious though it may leave a scar. The student is a cop, a young one that likes to joke around. He was taunting another student a little with a new neck knife he got. He was fast drawing it and going to check on the other students throat who kept telling him to cut it out.
He didn’t and the other student got mad and threw his backhand up just as he was doing it again. The hand hit the knife hand and it went back fast at the first student it stuck him in the jaw just behind the chin. It went in and all the way up on the inside past the jaw bone and into his gum. It did not hit anything vital but he did bleed like a stuck pig ( the guy is a cop....sorry couldn’t help that one). He went to the hospital that’s about a block away and got it sewn.
Eight stitches and he might have to do some additional work on the inside as it tore the gum and his mouth up a bit. He won’t be able to eat because he can’t chew for a while but he should heal.
Its risky enough learning fighting and even more so when a weapon is involved. You just never know when some freak accident can happen so just don’t give things a chance. I think he got the message this time.
You never know what will happen on any given day its one of the reasons why I just love this class.
ps...teachers...always make sure you get the waivor signed!

At least his eyes are intact.
Can't say I'm sorry it happened.

Rep Power: 100 | | | He was scared for a few mins that it was his throat or that he would bleed to death so he was really freaked out for a bit and was holding his neck and shaking and all. I talked to him right away to calm him or he might have had a bit of shock to deal with.
It sort of freaked out some of the others too and it was a lot of blood all over I suppose he could have bled to death if the hospital was not so close by. besides I don't know how to do a tourniquet around the neck without causing a few other problems.

Rep Power: 5 | | | sounds like a class i will avoid if students bring real knifes into class, training should be done with plastic, rubber,or metal training knifes not live blades, live blades should only be used buy advanced students and then only in privat one to one training |

Rep Power: 220 | | | As I understand it, aqira's classes aren't for noobs.
Though I have to disagree with your view, if you're learning how to use a weapon you don't play LARP'ing, you use the real deal.

Rep Power: 5 | | | you use the real deal??? in my experience a training partner is not a killer and will avoid trying to cut or stab you with a real blade, were with a training knife thay will try and catch you with it, so you will know if you are doing thing right,if you realy use the real deal? why stop at just the knife get some nasty vicious thug that will kill you to come into class and say theres a stack of money kill that student and its yours??? just how real do you want to make it |

Rep Power: 163 | | | The problem was not the live blade... it was the student that had no respect for the live blade and the horseplay.
I don't do weapons training but if something like that happened at my school the "horseplayer" would be dismissed immediately, stitches and all.
Peace-
Cam

cam I sort of agree and disagree I think he learned the lesson well, I think they all did
get a thug/killer and put some money on the table...maybe I could place an ad and do some interviews if I could just get the job description right. though I would have to comply with EEOC and ADA requirments
