Get the best drill bit you can afford, and drill either one hole(although easier to center, risky and requires a huge expensive bit) that is almost as big as the square or drill four smaller holes that nearly fill the corners and use the chisel to knock out the rest of the waste.
You'll be done by lunchtime...

Yes, there are 2 pilot holes. They were drilled with a 12' auger bit at a 1/2 inch in diameter.

Problem is, drill burned out on 2nd hole as luck would have it. My other drill has only a 3/8 chuck.

The crack is superfical, and is from drying out the last 2 years in my garage.
