Rep Power: 90 | | | Archery So it has been a lifetime since I got my merit badge in archery. I want to take the sport up again and have a fondness for the long bow. But my querry is what is better for hunting, traditional long bows or recurve long bows? Also, which traditionally has more power and accuracy, if there is a difference past the archer? |

Rep Power: 157 | | | Go for a compound bow. More power for less bulk.
A recurve will have more power than a traditional I suspect. Accuracy will be down to you. If you are looking to be traditional then ditch all those ridiculous sights etc.

Lol... I'd say that about their bows. When they're using a black palm bow with bamboo string and cane arrows with wood points and no flights they're doing archery
Back home (back then) bows were the main weapon in the fairly constant fighting that went on and no one showed anything but enthusiasm when they first encountered compound bows
Also, they take a real knack to pull. Took me 15 min to be able to pull one and I'd been using a bow day in day out for years.

LMAO, wish i had some pics of the stuff we used to make, i had a homemade bamboo footbow that i used to shoot from my yard back in Guam....
Had tons of range, not much accuracy...
Even then we still used weed-wacker line.

Longbow on both accounts.
Power is easily 5x more on a longbow as compared to the recurve bow, traditionally.

Rep Power: 54 | | | So you've chosen a recurve then?
PS, the hip quiver looks sweet, get it.
