Hi all, I was watching some youtube stuff on chain whips and they often do this move where they swing the chain whip under their legs multiple times. Looks really complicated and cool, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out the martial application for doing this.
As I won't learn chain whips until I am a black sash (which is quite a ways off) I seem to keep forgetting to ask when at my school. But I remember when at my computer so..........
Anyone who does chain whips out there who can explain this to me? Thanks!

Can you post a link? Sometimes there are moves that don't actually *have* an application- they just look cool. I'm sure you could make up something though...

I'm thinking weapon retention and the idea of keeping the weapon moving. The unorthodoxy of the movement itself could allow you some other opportunities in striking as well.

Here is a link to Quinn Early doing the double chain whips. (He used to be a pro football player. He is a senior level insctructor at one of the other locations of my school.) The thing I am talking about is near the end at about 1:13. I see variations of this often in chain whip videos.

Some moves are less about martial application and more about demonstrating physical skill and coordination.
This is one of those moves, IMO. In fact, most of the chain whip form is about skill & coordination, timing, etc.
