Rep Power: 150 | | | I'm female so, I couldn't get six-pack abs anyway ... four-pack maybe. But anyway...
Crunches & situps don't give you "defined" abs. Cardio and a good diet (not just "eating health nut food") are the path to muscle definition. Also, extreme muscle definition, the kind you see on those gimmick-of-the-week workout commercials where abs just pop out at ya, is at best a temporary status for most people. Those models have to diet down to single-percent body fat and dehydrate themselves the day of the shoot, similar to how bodybuilders do it before a competition.
I'm sure there are folks here who can give you a detailed workout regime to get those defined abs. But ask yourself -- what is your true goal? Do you only want defined muscles, or do you want functional strength? Are you looking to get in shape in a general sense, or to win a tournament (and in that case -- a sparring or a forms tourney)?
Crunches are a good exercise anyway. Situps are debatable -- they work hip flexors more than the abs. But they won't give you a six-pack.
