Rep Power: 24 | | Ideal Weight to Height Ratio? wut is the recomended weight for different heights
is there a certain equation that u can plug in your height to find out exactly wut u SHOULD weigh
i'm 16 yrs old, 5'6-7", and 135-140 lbs...and some of my friends tell me that i'm too light for my height....i'm not really skinny or anything like that either!....i got like hardly any body fat, i can curl like 10 reps and 3 sets of 40 lbs, and i got good muscle endurance (100-200 reps of 15 lbs) and i can bench about 180 (ya i like to show off!!! so wut!!! lol)...so the only way i can think to put on more weight is to stop exercising, and start eating! would that be healthier for me
also, do(es) your MA(s) affect (in your oppinion) how much u should weigh for your height should u be lighter, heavy, or exact
TIA to all!

Rep Power: 23 | | The "ideal" weight equation is the BMI or Body Mass Index, though it is fairly inaccurate for many people. Good for a general idea of how much you should weigh, but if you are muscular it starts to loose accuracy. http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmicalc.htm

Rep Power: 23 | | | If you do want to gain mass you actually have to increase the amount you eat and also alter the manner in which you workout.

The only way to gain weight is to take in more calories than you expend. It gets more complex when you talk about muscle vs. fat.
You should weigh what you weigh and be comfortable with yourself. Unless you are abnormally obese or underweight then you should learn to be comfortable with your body size. Certain martial arts will favor different body types, but never to the point of exclusion. You can be 90lbs and still enjoy playing Judo. A good teacher can adapt an art to anyone, and a good martial art will play to the strengths of people of all body sizes.

Rep Power: 38 | | Im sure im incorrect here, but if the average american and brit is to go by, the perfect weight to height ratio must be
2.5 -> 3 * Weight : height
On a daily basis I see people who might only just touch 5 foot tall, but will way about 15 stones+ (for those who dont use stones, thats _heavy_) |

Wraith is 100% correct, like I stated in another post. First you're molded to the art, then the art is molded to you.

You are 6'-3' I know you aren't too far away, so next time you come to Houston PLEASE let me know and come do some sparring; I don't get to spar very skilled people that over 6' too often, so when I have to fight them at world's or national's I am not as well prepared as I would like to be.
oh i'm 5-8 and 145 and i feel my ratio is pretty good

I'll be in Little rock starting the week of June 21st so this meet up is what, 2 weeks before that. I'll probably be just starting up a new job around that time as i'm graduating in May... I'm not sure this is going to be possible, but I'll still try

Rep Power: 34 | | | You are actually a good ratio according to the BMI index. Don't stop working out to gain weight... bad idea. If you want to gain weight try lifting weights while increasing your protien consumption and carb consumption.
