Quick Review of Who Does What

Next!Since this is the relaunch & it's been a minute ... how about a quick review of who does what.

For me I've been at Choy Li Fut for 11 going on 12 years now under different lineages but I'm now settled under the Chan Tai San banner. His lineage carries CLF but is better known for his Lama Pai, which is where my focus is at.

Next!

Was doing Balintawak & Musō

Was doing Balintawak & Musō Jikiden Eishin-ryū but have some pretty bad neck/back/torso injuries so they are all out of the window for the time being.

Will be starting at a local Tai Chi club next week though. First time doing any Tai Chi besides playing around doing some push hand Vs chi sau stuff years ago.

Wah Lum in da house

Hey all, been doing Wah Lum for, good God, almost 15 years now. You think I'd be pretty good at it by now but ... kung fu for me is a lot like golf was for my dad. Fun, relaxing, but some days you're standing in the middle of the green pounding a nine iron on the ground in frustration. Also doing Yang style tai chi for several years now.

I do mainly kung fu. This incudes standing striking, grappling, throws and some ground work. Oddly for a martial artist I don't like hitting people and have little formal experience of fighting. I am most interested in the mechanics of movement and in how bodies work. I have been doing proper kung fu for about 25 years. Although the kungfu I do is proper I am not sure how properly I do it.  I have taught my own class for around eight years.

Due to lack of practice and training partners my groundwork is sorely laking, So I have recently taken up BJJ. Great fun and very similar to the kung fu groundwork.
