I just rented a series of (mostly)short films by this aspiring filmmaker. Most were shot from the mid-1980s to early '90s,and are worth checking out,if you can find them.He never made it big,but with enough publicity he just might make it out of Dayton Ohio. "Deadbeat at Dawn" is great for anyone...
Saw Jet Li's "Tai Chi Master" DVD today, bad title. The opening credits showed some Tai Chi forms being practiced by students, then for the next 3/4's of the movie it was all Shaolin, the last 1/4th of the movie then had some Tai Chi; then the closing credits had the same opening Tai Chi students...

Stanley Tong learned several forms of martial arts as a child. In 1970 he first encountered yiquan. He started his movie career in Hong Kong as a stuntman. Then because of injuries, he had to switch to another job, and first became directors assistant and then stunt-coordinator. In 1989 he formed...
Over the holidays saw the new Sherlock Holmes movie and was impressed with the martial arts scenes, they took some liberties with the "Bartitsu" and incorporated some TCMA internal aspects into it, and enjoyed the overall effect. Saw this interpretation of "Bartitsu" as having some XingYiQuan or...
It was obviously prepared in advanced, but it's still entertaining to watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZBtTx6jItI
I thought this was a hoax, but I guess it's real... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPasvs3spuE&feature=player_embedded Universal Soldier: Regeneration That's right folks - only Van Damme can save us now...

I just watched "Humanity's End", an indie sci-fi movie with a cast of unknowns and an impressive array of CGI effects.Considering what has come out recently,it wasn't half bad. It was put out by Maverick Entertainment, which has a long list of straight to DVD flicks. They're divided into...
What an intense movie! The foot chase scenes were so incredible!

Has anyone seen this one? It stars Michael Jai White, with appearances by Kimbo Slice and Gina Carano. The plot is the overused underground pitfighting compettion run by the Underworld,so I hesitate to view it.There have been so many of those recently,it isn't funny. But I'm thinking if Gina can...
Have you heard about it? Tekken (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I think it might turn out okay.
Anyone seen "Histories strongest disciple kenichi"? 史上最強の弟子ケンイチ: I thought this was a great Anime! Thoroughly enjoyed it, contains 50 episodes but I probably watched them in a few days. (had time available suprisingly) Definitely recommended! It starts about a kid that is always bullied at...
Great
I work with a couple of guys who were talking about who would win in a fight, Godzilla or King Kong. Being a martial artist, and one of them is as well, I brought up the suggestion of adding martial arts to their fighting abilities. King Kong is a big ape, so he probably knows Tong Bei and various...

I just rented this one from Thailand. They definitely take the concept of "Push" and make a better story out of it.Some of the characters are kind of dumb, and there is a whole army of extras that are there just as kill-fodder,but the director sure has a good eye for camera work.
Huge fan of the books. Anyone else PO'd about how much they left out. The movie was utterly boring! J.K should be ashamed of herself for raking in Millions upon millions of, Oh waitaminute....darn.
I loved the Graphic Novel, and I thought the movie did as best as it could to honor the novel. Recently I bought the Director's Cut which had some nice extended/deleted scenes. Oddly enough, my favorite scene in the entire film turned out to be one of the deleted scenes. YouTube - Watchmen...
Anyone seen Transformers 2 yet?! I'm going to go either next Wednesday (payday) or Sunday if my patients don't hold out.
Has anyone heard of the series of martial arts murder thrillers dubbed "The Connor Burke" series. It's written by John Donohue. There are three books so far: Sensei: A Thriller, Deshi, and Tengu: Mountain Goblin. I have read the first two books and really liked them, now I'm working on getting...
Has any one read the Geoff Thompson's dead or alive book? I've read lots of his articles, and I've heard lots of good things and recommendations from people about this book, I just thought I'd check if anybody on DL has read it, if so what did you think? I think this is the right section!
