This is Jackie Chan's first directorial debut, and I think you can tell. It keeps the charm and humor of his prior films, but you can see in this film where his future movies are going to go.
There is a great lion dance in the movie, where two rival schools are competing for (in this version anyway) FIFTY-THOUSAND dollars. The English dubbing is pretty bad in this, but the fights aren't too bad. This movie shows Jackie fighting against Yuen Biao with a bench, he fights with a fan, and he even wears a skirt while dressed as an old man.
Can't get much better than that right?
