I've seen it spelled Bagua and Pa Kua. With each spelling, I've heard a different pronunciation. Both had 2 syllables. Bagua was pronounced with the accent on the first syllable, Pa Kua was pronounced with the accent on the second syllable. Which is correct

First syllable, like Bangkok - capital of Tailand

or second syllable, like ba-gock! - noise a chicken makes when you step on it by accident

We spell it "pa kua", but put the stress on the first syllable, which makes it sound a lot like "bagua".

I'm guessing this is similar to "Kung Fu" -vs- "Gung Fu", but I dunno.

As far as accent goes, you dont stress one word over the other.

if you know pinyin it is ba1 gua4. that is the ba is said with a high, level tone. the gua is said with a falling tone. if you add the zhang(3) it is said with a tone that falls then rises
